Practice Administrator

I grew up in a family with many members working in healthcare, so it was a natural progression 
for me to choose this line of work. I graduated with a degree in sociology, which has helped me 
to work well with the different personalities I encounter on a daily basis. I have an understanding and deep compassion for the patients and the challenges they often face. Since taking on a management role, I interact mostly with our Hepatitis C patients. I find it very rewarding to help them get through their treatment, and the gratitude they demonstrate once they are cured is a feeling beyond words. While I’m at work, I treat patients kindly, keep a smile on my face and maintain a positive attitude. I know some patients are dealing with uncomfortable and disabling issues and that they will turn a corner once they feel better. Our patients truly appreciate the 
understanding and support they receive at our office.

I began my medical career at the age of 18 as a volunteer at Robert Wood Johnson University 
Hospital in Rahway. After only 6 months, I was offered a full time position that eventually led 
me to work as a hospital transporter, unit secretary, diagnostic clerk, lab clerk and medical records coordinator. With all the varied experiences I’ve had in the healthcare field, helping and taking care of patients is still my greatest reward. I’m so thankful to work in a medical office where there’s always something new to learn, and to work with such a caring group of people who make it easy to stay centered and uplifted. I love the positive response patients show me for the help I so enjoy providing them.

I’ve always been a nurturing person coming from a family involved in various spectrums of the medical field, but it was my unique experience working alongside my uncle in his medical practice in Haiti that really sparked my interest in healthcare. My secretarial, banking and medical billing experiences have equipped me for my present position in Dr. Wexler’s office where I assist patients and answer their financial questions. I know what needs to be done and I do it, and the “why” factor gives me my boost every day. Besides working with my co-workers, I 
particularly enjoy helping and assisting our patients, and when they call and remember my name and tell me how welcome and comfortable I made them feel – that just makes my day.

My unique experiences raising a son with health issues from birth has sensitized me to what
patients go through when visiting a doctor’s office. Having found comfort myself in talking to the friendly and compassionate person at the front desk of many medical offices, I came to the 
realization that I wanted to be that person for others. When patients come in to have procedures done, whether for health concerns or preventative medicine, the most rewarding aspect of my job is being able to help them feel more at ease. My education at Middlesex County College has provided me with additional skills that assist me in my present position, and the friendly easy-going staff I work with make it easy to stay centered and positive at work. I especially enjoy the many thanks I receive from patients for making the process easier and more pleasant for them.
